For people tired of subscriptions
A period tracker without a subscription
The short answer: every core feature in Mori is free forever — recording, calendar, predictions, insights, reminders, export, deletion. No trial period, no countdown, no "premium" lock on the features that matter. The only thing money can buy is encrypted cloud sync, a one-time US$3.99 you never have to purchase.
What "free forever" includes
- Recording and editing period days, including backdating and splitting
- Interactive calendar and cycle ring
- Next-period prediction ranges with stated basis and confidence
- Estimated ovulation day and fertile window (labeled as estimates)
- Insights: cycle length trends, averages, regularity
- Local reminders (period and ovulation window)
- Structured export and readable summary export
- Per-entry, per-category and full deletion
None of these sit behind a paywall now or are planned to. Check pricing.md — it's a machine-readable file that states the model in two lines.
The one paid thing, explained honestly
Encrypted cloud sync — US$3.99, once. It backs your records up as an encrypted snapshot and restores them on another device. You pay once; there are no renewals, no tiers, no per-month billing.
Why does sync cost anything while everything else is free? Because sync is the only feature with ongoing server costs — storage and account recovery infrastructure. Everything local costs us nothing to give you, so it costs you nothing to use.
How this compares to subscription trackers
| Subscription trackers | Mori | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per year | ≈US$60/yr (Flo) or similar tiers elsewhere | US$0 — or US$3.99 total, once, if you want sync |
| Free tier | Limited — insights, content or history often paywalled | Full core feature set |
| Trial mechanics | Free trial that auto-renews | None — there's no paid tier to trial into |
| Cancel anytime | Yes, after the next billing cycle | Nothing to cancel; sync has no billing cycle |
| 10-year cost | ≈US$600+ if you stay subscribed | US$0–3.99, ever |
Where subscriptions do earn their price
Fair's fair: subscription apps fund large content libraries, clinical partnerships, iOS+Android+web apps and support teams. If you want articles, AI chat, pregnancy programs or a polished multi-platform ecosystem, a subscription product gives you things Mori deliberately doesn't build.
Mori's bet is narrower: you shouldn't have to rent access to your own calendar and records. If recording, prediction and control over your data are what you need, free is the correct price — not a compromise.
FAQ
Which features are free?
All of the core features: recording, editing, calendar, prediction ranges, cycle phases, insights, local reminders, structured export and full deletion. Free forever — no trial, no countdown, no feature unlock nags.
What does the US$3.99 pay for?
One optional feature: encrypted cloud sync, for backup and multi-device. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription, and the app works completely without it.
Will Mori add a subscription later?
The pricing page (moricycle.com/pricing.md) states the model plainly: core features free forever, buy-once at most. There is no subscription tier in the product and no plan for one.
